Dear N,

Thank you for your letter and your questions.
Let me proceed to the first question about the Word. First, you can check out the Qur’an and see that it names Jesus as the Word, “When the angels said, 'Mary, God gives thee good tidings of a Word from Him whose name is Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary; high honoured shall he be in this world and the next, near stationed to God. (3:045). The Bible describes the Word (logos)
in the Gospel of John 1:1-18)
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Joh 1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Joh 1:16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

This passage is saying that the Word, the Son of God, (eternal) became embodied in the person of Jesus in history, in time. You may have a problem of understanding this, but ask yourself the question, can I understand an Infinite Being? Can I restrict any Infinite Being in doing something I may not accept?

2. Your comments about Moses....”I gave you clear proofs on how Mohammed and Moses lives interlock....”

My response: You really have not given me any “clear proofs.” What is a proof. You have given me some irrevelent co-incidences that prove nothing. One can point to lots of co-incidences that prove nothing. What is important about Moses? It is not in his birth, or being an orphan, etc., but in what he did. (Actually you suppose some things that you have no evidence for, such as Moses not knowing his parents. What are the possibilities of his finding his parents when he finds out that he is a Hebrew? The Bible does not tell all the little details one would like to know.) Moses would be nothing if you did not have the story of the Exodus of the Hebrews from Egyptian slavery. Through Moses the people came to liberty, to the Moral Laws which God gave, and to the land promised by God to Abraham and the Hebrew people.

Concerning the issue of the brethern, I would like to refer you to an article at the site below: http://www.answeringislam.org/Gilchrist/muhammad.html#Part_1
This article deals in depth with the issue you raise. I don’t need to repeat all of that information. Moreover, you might check out the article at http://www.answeringislam.org/Shamoun/ishmael.htm On the issue of whether Ishmael is related to Mohammed.

4. Question about the number of Qur’ans going around. The history of Islam will show you that there were a number of them and the article at this site will help you know the history from Muslim scholars. http://www.answeringislam.org/Authors/Farooq_Ibrahim/trustworthy2.htm

5. Questions on slaves....how are we supposed to treat our slaves? While the Qur’an allows slaves, slavery is wrong. The only way to treat slaves is to give them freedom....!
Slavery was abolished in the west because the Christian view is that there “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

6. Your comment on the crucifixion.... Why would God deceive people with an innocent person ? Do you think that his mother and disciples did not know who was being crucified? There is an excellent article at http://www.answeringislam.org/Gilchrist/crucifixion.html
on the issue of the death of Jesus. This article involves a debate between Gilchrist and Deedat.
Also, check out http://www.answeringislam.org/Mna/frag4_1.html which has excellent materials for your answers.
8. On Miracles, Mohammed never claimed to perform miracles. He said he was only a warner. Check out the following. "We refrain from sending the signs, only because the men of former generations treated them as false." (Sura 17:59).

"The unbelievers say: 'Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord? But thou art truly a warner and to every people a guide (Sura 13:7).

"When there comes to them a sign (from Allah) (i.e. the Quran Sura 2:99, 151, 252) they say: 'We shall not believe until We receive one like those received by Allah's Apostle! Allah knows best where (and how) to carry out His mission." (Sura 6:124).

"They say: 'Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?' Say: 'Allah hath certainly power to send down a sign. 'But most of them understand not!" (Sura 6:37).

"Say those without knowledge: 'Why speaketh not Allah unto us? Or why cometh not unto us a sign?' So said the people before them words of similar import. Their hearts are alike. We have indeed made clear the signs...We have sent thee in truth as a bearer of good tidings and a warner." (Sura 2:118-119).

All this is plainly contradicted by the Hadis that tell us stories of signs.

What is your source for saying Mohammed split the moon? Why is it not yet split?

Please send me a contradiction that you want to talk about.

Do you know what the miracle of Jesus was like that of Jonah? He would die and rise again in 3 days.

I look forward to hearing from you again. Best wishes, Dallas
